A voice for young people
Young people in Midsomer Norton will soon get the chance to have their say on what happens in the town as part of a youth council.
The idea is the brainchild of town councillor Sara Box who said it was important to give young people a voice in the town and a chance to put their ideas forward.
If the proposals go ahead the youth council will have eleven members to mirror its senior counterpart with participants drawn from both Norton Hill and Somervale schools as well as from other areas of the community.
Ms Box said: "Once it set up the young people could put forward what they would like. Social media such as Twitter and Facebook would come into it."
The council has set aside £5,000 for supporting youth activities in the town and Ms Box said a small budget within that could be allocated to the emerging youth council.
