Ten tonnes of metal destroyed in Chard car scrap yard fire
Around 10 tonnes of scrap metal was destroyed when a bay in a Chard scrap yard went up in flames this afternoon.
Emergency services were alerted to the car scrap yard fire in Beeching Close at around 1.20pm.

A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said two fire crews from Chard requested assistance from a hazardous materials officer "due to the nature of the materials involved".
Firefighters spent more than an hour tackling the blaze, believed to have started accidentally, which was extinguished at around 2.45pm.
