Still time to join in Christmas Day bash
Places are still available for the first Christmas Day party to be thrown in Frome.
More than 60 volunteers have come forward to organise the December 25 bash at the Cheese and Grain.
The party is aimed at people who live alone, are on a pension or low income and cannot afford a traditional Christmas.
Seventy people have booked a place but there is still room at the Cheese and Grain for a slap-up festive lunch, presents and entertainment.
Doors open at 11am and party goers will be greeted with a glass of mulled cider provided by The Bell Inn at Buckland Dinham.
A three-course lunch made from locally sourced food will be served at 12.30pm.
The party is being funded by a Flourish Homes Community Chest grant and supported by businesses and organisations.
A collection at the artisan market in Catherine Hill raised a further £600.
Organiser is Charlie Thomas said she had been bowled over by the number of people who had volunteered to help.
Miss Thomas said: "We still have places for the lunch and people do need to book.
"We will be at the Cheese and Grain on Christmas Eve decorating the hall, we plan to make it look very special and create a wonderful atmosphere."
