Can't this be sited elsewhere?
I AM appalled that Bristol City Council is considering leasing space in the Central Library to the new Cathedral Primary School.
Apart from the desecration to Charles Holden's wonderful building how do they expect the Library to function efficiently by reducing the size of its storage facilities?
Bristol Central Library has a unique role to play not only in the city but in the south and west of England.
The Libraries Select Committee over the last six years have called on the Council to recognise this fact. I have often used the resources and expertise of the magnificent Art Library, in researches I have undertaken for the Museum here in Swanage, on artists who have visited and painted in the Isle of Purbeck. Such resources may not be called on every day of the week, or even very often, but that does not mean they are not important and vital to the cultural life of our country.

I would urge all readers who live in Bristol to sign the e-petition http://epetitions.bristol.gov.uk/epetition_core/view/centrallibrary and retain this vital resource for Bristol and the South West.
The new school can surely be sited anywhere, why use the purpose built storage space of the library and jeopardise the efficiency and structure of this unique building? Such an act of vandalism must be stopped,
