Five summit challenge
County councillors took Somerset’s five tallest peaks in their stride on Friday.
A council team scaled Cadbury Castle, Dunkery Beacon, Wills Neck, Crooks Peak and Glastonbury Tor in one day in the first fundraiser following the launch of Somerset Chairman’s Charities.
Somerset County Council chairman David Fothergill and councillors John Osman, Mike Rigby and James Hunt completed the challenge as part of an effort to raise £50,000 over the next four years for two charities - the National Autistic Society and Somerset Trust for Arts and Recreations (STAR).
Councillor Fothergill said: “It was a great day and despite aching limbs, very enjoyable.”
