Two strikes in five minutes guides Pen Mill Ladies to first points
PEN Mill Ladies are off the mark this season aafter beating Bishops Lydeard Reserves in the Somerset County Women's League.
However, all the action came after the break despite Mill dominating the opening 45 minutes and even missing a penalty. Emma Davis was dragged to the ground but Ruth Parsons could not beat the keeper.
Ten minutes after the restart former Ilminster Town ace Grace Channing broke the deadlock, her shot deflecting off a defender's leg and beating the keeper. Mill were two ahead five minutes later when Emma Davis' solo run and shot found the net. Play was halted as new signing Lauren Pond was taken to hospital with a dislocated knee. Keeper Amanda Johnson was beaten on 80 minutes but Mill held on for three points.
ILMINSTER Town fell to their second Somerset County League Premier Division defeat of the season, losing 2-1 at Nailsea Town.
Castle Cary beat Brislington 3-2 in the First Division, whilst Combe St Nicholas won 1-0 at Ashton and Backwell United Reserves in Division Two West. Westland Sports lost 2-0 to Stourpaine in the Dorset County League
