Wells Journal

Members of Wells Bookworms, a children's book club, review a book each week, telling other young readers what they liked – or didn't like – about the story.

This week's book is Holes, by Louis Sachar

It might sound boring if I said this is about some boys who dig holes, but it is actually very mysterious and exciting.

Boys who have been in trouble are sent to this camp and all they do is dig holes. They don't know why at the start but we do find out at the end of the book. The boys do work together to try to keep going even when life at the camp is very tough. The woman who runs the camp is very cruel. This is a great book and I think boys and girls would enjoy it. I have also read Small Steps which is the sequel.
