Middlesbrough's under-21s captain and a midfielder taken to Chelsea by Jose Mourinho have emerged as transfer targets for Yeovil Town.

Hartlepool-born Matthew Dolan and diminutive play-maker Kaby Djalo were both in the stands at Fratton Park today as the Glovers ended 2012 with a 2-1 success over Portsmouth.

Manager Gary Johnson confirmed he hoped to broker a loan deal for energetic midfielder Dolan - potentially as soon as New Year's Eve - whilst Guinea-Bissau man Djalo, currently unattached after a spell in Cyprus, could join days later.

The boss said: "We have got two boys with us at the moment. One is Matthew Dolan who we think is a very good midfield player with a good left foot and we hope to do something with him but we need to talk to Middlesbrough.

"I can't jump the gun but he is with us and I wanted him to see us, really. We have got a boy who used to be at Chelsea called Kaby Djalo who is like a smaller version of Pele.

"He was at Chelsea, Jose Mourinho has bought him in and he has just come back from Cyprus.

"He has not got the fitness that Matty Dolan has got, who is the captain of Middlesbrough's under-21s, looks a little bit older and he would be a good addition to the squad if we can make it happen. We are in A1 position because he is with us."

First half strikes from Dominic Blizzard and Byron Webster set up today's npower League One triumph before Pompey hit back after the break.

The Glovers return to Huish Park on Tuesday when they entertain Leyton Orient, entering the game three points off the division's play-off spots.
