Busy schedule for Frome runners

Frome Running Club have enjoyed a busy time recently, including three members travelling to Abingdon for a marathon.

Ted Sprules (MV50) completed the course in 3:06:18, followed by Georgie Starkie and Matthew Gilliard in 3:38:15.

On the same day but a little closer to home, five members completed the first-ever Beckington 10k.

Keith Penney was first in for Frome in a time of 37:24, followed by Lauren Bryant -Jefferies in 44:20, Liz Dowling 56:52, Rachel Cobb (FV45) 57:54 and Tony Blatchford (MV50) 58:49.

On October 25, three Frome RC runners took part in the Great South Run.

Emma Evans completed the course in 1:42:28, Alan Berry (MV65) followed in 1:51:41 and Rachel Seviour in 2:02:05.

On the same day, four members tackled the 'three peaks of Dorset' by competing in The Stickler.

Karen Evans (FV40) was first across the line for Frome in 1:50:02, followed by Debbie Roberts (FV40) in 1:50:38, James Sherwin (MV40) 1:56:03 and Mark Aston (MV60) 1:57:45.

Another two hilly races took place a week later and Tim Davis crossed the line for Frome at the Over the Hills Race at Bradford on Avon in 53:16.

Also taking part in this race were Tom Stokes (MV40) 55:36, Alistair Dove 1:09:44, Mark Aston (MV60) 1:15:36, James Sherwin (MV40) 1:16:24 and Margaret Plummer (FV50) 1:17:15.

Further south in Gillingham, Ted Sprules (MV50) competed in The Gilly Hilly and finished the course in 49:10. Marcus Gaffney (MV40) followed in 1:00:11 and Chris Steele (MV40) in 1:00:28.

On November 7, Cheddar Running Club hosted the popular Cheddar Half Marathon and five Frome members took part.

Results: Jim Plunkett-Cole (MV40) 1:23:09, Marcus Gaffney (MV40) 1:47:42, Karen Evans (FV40) 1:54:07, James Sherwin (MV40) 1:58:09, Iain Brownlie 1:59:30.

The wet and muddy Sodbury Slog was held on Rememberence Sunday with more than 1,000 competitors.

Matthew Gilliard came over the finish line in 1:16:59, followed by Alistair Dove 1:27:34, Sharon Arnold 1:31:27, Mark Aston (MV60) 1:53:56, Karen Evans (FV40) and Debbie Roberts (FV40) 1:57:47 and Tony Blatchford (MV50) 2:01:55.
