It's party time as quay becomes a weekend stage
Thomas Ford and the Diehards headline a feast of Westcountry artists being showcased at the Truro Blues Festival tomorrow on Lemon Quay – part of a music-packed weekend in the city hosted by the Wander Inn.
Raised in Cornwall and now based in Plymouth, Thomas is a 28-year-old blues shouter, guitar picker and harmonica fire-breather. His energetic live shows have taken him from Bodmin to Berlin. Mixing delta blues traditions with contemporary songwriting, he has been hailed as a rising star of the British blues scene.
There will also be a rare local performance from nu-blues two-piece Lost Dawn. Also on the bill are three traditional booze-soaked blues rock bands – Blues Busters, Bare Knuckle Blues Band, Blacktop Deluxe. Lovers of a more soulful tradition are catered for in the form of exceptional blues vocalist Becca Langsford and Vince Lee plus solo blues men Russell Sinclair and Viv Robertson.
On Sunday, Party on the Piazza takes over, headlined by popular Camborne ska covers band Rudi's Message, who have played with the likes of Bad Manners and the Selecter. Also appearing will be Three Minute Warning, The Flaming Infidels, Gareth Lee and his band and party-starting pop funk rockers The Boston Plan. There will also be a chance to join in workshops with the Truro School of Samba, who showcase at the Wander Inn tonight.
