Wells Journal

Welcome to 2012's Night on the Town in Wells. Now in our fourth year, this evening's event promises to be even bigger and better with entertainment, shopping and activities for all the family.

See the map and key in this four-page guide for locations of activities and events including the line-up of our fantastic acts booked on the main stage at the bottom of Broad Street.

We are very proud of our city, the retail opportunities that we have on our doorstep, the exceptional local attractions and a true feeling of community spirit and camaraderie.

This is a rare combination and this evening we celebrate everything that Wells has to offer.

On the centre pages of this guide you will find a voucher that you can put in the front windscreen of your car to give you free parking in any of Mendip District Council's Wells car parks today from 4pm.

There are also 18 other vouchers offering you special deals with traders in the city.

See the back page of this pullout guide for details of the fun, food, drink and other attractions available tonight.

There has been a change to the running order of musical entertainment on the main stage. Girl group B Minor have broken up since they were booked and been replaced by singer-songwriter Rich Maya.

We had hoped to have a firework display at the end of the night but sadly this had to be cancelled for health and safety reasons.

Night on the Town is organised by a small group of volunteers who spend months planning and raising money to pay for this free event.

It costs about £10,000 to put on the night with equipment hire, licences, the acts, posters, banners and our website.

Please show your support and give generously in one of our collecting buckets that are located around the city centre.

We hope that you have a fantastic night and come back and enjoy Wells city centre again soon.

Best wishes,

Mark Tobin
