It's lights, camera, and action for film-making event
Somerset Film is hosting a networking event for anyone interested in film or digital media at the Meeting House Arts Centre, Ilminster, on Wednesday, from 7pm to 10pm.
This informal free event is a chance to meet and see work by local film-makers.
It is aimed at anyone who is a movie fan or would like to show their own short film or find out how to break into the industry.
The event will profile leading lights Four Reels, based at Flaxdrayton, and Purple Field Productions, based in Ilminster.
Each company will talk about and show examples of their work.
Run by Tim Fogg and Chad Williams, Four Reels specialises in the production of quality films with a quirky and stylish edge.
It has a wealth of experience making new film and digital art with and for young people and has worked for a variety of clients including MTV, Defra, the Prince's Trust and the National Trust.
Purple Field Productions is a charity with an international focus.
Specialising in humanitarian and educational film, its work has expanded into training others to make films.
Purple Field Productions was set up by Ilminster resident Elspeth Waldie in 2004 in order to make a feature film to help combat fear and prejudice surrounding disability in Bangladesh.
The resulting film, Radio Bhai, has just won an International award at the Picture This Film Festival, Canada's biggest disability film event.
Charity trustee and film-maker Alex Richardson will be on hand to talk about the charity's recent projects.
The event has been made possible thanks to support from Rural Renaissance and Somerset County Council.
