Re: "£47,000 of swans money to benefit city causes", Wells Journal, February 21.

In relation to information you may have received from Swans of Wells, The Bishop's Palace would like to clarify that we did not receive £10,000 from the £110,000 directly raised from the Swans of Wells Charity Auction held at The Bishop's Palace, on September 29, 2012 to cover the "use of premises and catering".

As official partners with Swans of Wells we offered the exclusive use of our premises for all Swans of Wells events at no charge.

The cost of catering for the Charity Auction was included and covered in the Charity Auction ticket price – the price of which was set, and all collection of monies from these ticket sales co-ordinated by, Swans of Wells.
