Honeymead Garden Society

The society was presented with a cheque for £1,000 at its annual meeting held on Tuesday, February 5.

Councillor Ken Maddock, of Somerset County Council, presented the money to Keith Rollason, secretary of the society, and it will be used to purchase some new tools and machinery for this low-cost community group.

Despite the cold and rainy weather, a good turn out of members enabled many topics to be discussed as well as the election of the committee decided upon.

Situated at a very special site on the Somerset Levels, the Honeymead Garden Society provides people of all incomes an opportunity to grow their own produce in a relaxed, informal garden setting. Social events, talks and demonstrations enable people to enjoy their gardening, whatever their abilities and knowledge. The society is funded through donations, low-priced plot subscription and fundraising activities.

If you are able to help this worthwhile community project, would like to know more about plot availability, or would just like further information, please contact honey mead.g.s@doyousee.me.uk.
