The one and only pothole plaguing Shepton Mallet drivers
Potholes have brought misery to motorists across mid-Somerset, but not in Shepton Mallet – if official figures are to go by.
Somerset County Council has revealed almost 3,500 potholes were reported across the county since December, a 40 per increase on the same period last year.

However the latest figures available for Shepton Mallet shows just one pothole was actually reported.
Conservative cabinet member Harvey Siggs said: "You'll never win with potholes, a lot of the surfaces we did deal with have survived a lot better."

The county council has repaired 2,649 potholes and has asked people to report them.
Mr Siggs said: "Obviously it's the same teams that are doing the gritting, so things have been struggling but the weather has got a milder and all our teams will be back up filling potholes.
Somerset spokeswoman Julia Thorne was asked to confirm the official figures for Shepton Mallet.
"After making some enquiries I can inform you that only one pothole was reported and repaired in the parish of Shepton Mallet in the period from November 19, 2012, to January 25, 2013," she said.
The highways team are undertaking an inspection of the A and B classification roads in Mendip this week and undertaking an inspection of Shepton Mallet town centre.
Potholes can be reported via the county council's 'Do It Online' forum on its www.somerset.gov.uk service.
However large potholes or other more serious issues such as debris or dead animals on the road, missing drain covers or flooding, can be reported by calling 0845 345 9155 from 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday or 9am to 4pm on Saturdays.
