“I am utterly amazed at how many people think that if you drive a car at speed into water, the chances are that you will get through to the other side without a problem. I suggest those people retry taking driving lessons. Firstly, water will seriously damage your car, the electrics go and then your car stops, normally in the middle of the water, but if you drive slowly, keeping your revs up, the chances are much higher that you will manage to come out the other side without to much of a problem as long as the water is not too deep. So hearing such statements, "that if l drive faster, l will get through the water quicker", l guarantee, is a pile of rubbish! A car is NOT a speed boat, it is a car. If a road, states "Closed due to Flooding", then perhaps the road is too dangerous to traverse due to the depth of water, which the car driver, would not know until it is too late! Of course, if you can afford a new car, then go ahead, but just remember, that if you do drive into an area, that is closed due to flooding, more than likely, your insurance company will not pay up, as you have no right of way, driving on a closed road! Keep safe and drive sensibly.”
