Your phones, MP3s and cartridges can help our fight against cancer
I am writing to urge all your readers to go green this September and support the children's cancer charity, CLIC Sargent during our recycling month by getting behind our high street shops in Somerset.
Throughout the month, we will be calling on local people to join our 'Green Redeem' scheme by donating any unwanted MP3 players, printer cartridges and old mobile phones to our shops in Bridgwater, Clevedon, Wells, Weston-super-Mare and Yeovil. Every phone or MP3 player, regardless of age or condition, will raise at least £3 for CLIC Sargent which will go towards helping families affected by childhood cancer in the local area and across the rest of the UK.
During September, 27 CLIC Sargent shops across the country will be competing to recycle the most items and be crowned the greenest of all the charity's stores.
You can either drop donated goods into the shops or pick up a freepost recycling bag from the counter, package items up at home and then send them to the factory.
Last year with support from the public we recycled 550 items which raised £1,500 for the charity. That money is enough to pay for seven community support grants to help cover the increased costs that families face when their child has cancer. So support your local CLIC Sargent shop and let's make this year's Green Redeem even bigger and better.
