Murphy magic ensures home triumph for Timsbury thirds

Murphy magic ensures home triumph for Timsbury thirds

Timsbury 3rd XI 190 Brislington 4th XI 159-7 (Timsbury won by 31 runs)

Timsbury 3rd XI hosted Brislington 4th XI in an entertaining contest, resulting in a 31-run victory for the home side.

Timsbury batted first on a damp pitch with some variable bounce.

Despite this, another assured performance from opener Jack Williams (46) set up the Timsbury innings and some fine hitting from the middle order of Tom Park and Matt Ball kept the run-rate ticking over.

Brislington fought back with good bowling from H White (3-32) and P Iles (4-24) and looked on top before big-hitting lower-order knocks from Aaron Stewart (30) and Will Brown (48) gave Timsbury the upper hand once more.

Brislington's reply began slowly, with the pick of the Timsbury bowlers Bernard Murphy taking the first three wickets in a fine spell.

Good bowling from Colin Weaver (2-29) and Gary Pearcy (1-26) limited Brislington to 64-6 from 27 overs before a fine innings from P Iles (73no) brought the scores closer in the final stages.
