A FORMER Royal Marine from Blandford, who is suspected of being involved in a plot to bring tonnes of drugs into the UK, has been extradited back to England.

Glenn David Cornick, 38, of Salisbury Road, was arrested by the Guardia Civil San Sebastian in Spain on July 29 under a European Arrest Warrant.

Cornick is suspected of being part of a criminal network that used a number of "paper" companies as a front for the activity.

Business service centres across the UK are said to have unwittingly received packages containing cocaine and cannabis on their behalf.

The Serious Organised Crime Agency says over 18 months, in partnership with police in Spain and England, it seized more than 50 kilos of cocaine and four tonnes of cannabis.

Ten people are expected to stand trial in October at Liverpool Crown Court.

Cornick was remanded in custody after appearing before Uxbridge Magistrates Court on August 12 and a trial will start at Liverpool on Monday, October 4.
