First half costs Athletic
Bridgwater Town Res 3 Timsbury Athletic 0
Timsbury Athletic remain firmly entrenched at the foot of the Errea Somerset County League Premier Division after being comprehensively beaten by title contenders Bridgwater Town Reserves.
The damage was all done in a one-sided first half which saw the visitors struggling to get out of their own half.
Bridgwater took the lead on the 15-minute mark when Josh Turner converted a header at the far post from a corner.
Jamie Howson increased Town's advantage with a penalty after Justin Gregory had been penalised on the edge of the area before Craig Thomas finished superbly to make it 3-0 by half time.
In the second half, Timsbury showed more resolution and keeper Wayne Gay denied the home side with some fine saves.
Despite having more of the play than in the first 45 minutes, Timsbury still created little of note, although Les Allen did come close to pulling a goal back, only to be thwarted by the home keeper.
Manager Sam Gurner said: "Bridgwater had a game plan which they carried out effectively and we never copied with their direct approach in the first half where our passing was poor.
"We managed to nullify them in the second period but rarely threatened their keeper.
"They are a top team and we are at the bottom, and on the day it showed."
