It is wisely called the Tough Ten and the Lions Club of Weston-Super-Mare's annual ten-mile multi-terrain race added the cold as an extra challenge yesterday.

There was a terrific turn-out for the race which has been a crowd-pleaser for 21 years and sees runners race along the seafront for part of the endurance event, as well as making their way along energy-sapping woodland paths.

The race has a two-hour time limit and on the age grading ranking system used by this particular race Lee Rankin of Stroud & District AC was the winner, with Luke Murray, of Clevedon AC second and Tom Doyle third.

The same system made Annabel Granger of Bristol and West A C tenth and highest placed woman. Kerry Wray of Southville Running Club was second woman home and Louise Manson of Clevedon AC was third.
