A Frome paranormal group is looking for Ghost whisperers from the area to join their team.

The Cornwall and Somerset Paranormal Entity Research  United Kingdom (CASPER UK) was set up by Frome man, Nick Thurston, after a spooky experience at a guesthouse a few years ago.

Mr Thurston, of Critchill Road, Frome, said until that time he had been a huge sceptic but the experience got him very interested in the paranormal.

He said: “We are looking for two people to join us who ideally have mediumship qualities, though it is not essential.

“We are very busy at the moment and with the two extra people there will be eight people in the team.”

Mr Thurston has been travelling the UK in the last few weeks investigating paranormal activity and said his aim in life is to prove that ghosts really do exist.

He said: “I didn’t believe in ghosts until my experience a few years ago.

“My ex-partner and I went to stay in a guesthouse in the New Forest and so many strange things happened,  including hearing loud foot steps outside and no one being there when we looked, we knew it couldn’t just be coincidence.”

The pair found out the next morning that the place was haunted and a medium came on a regular basis to talk to the spirits.

The not-for-profit group uses specialist equipment including laser thermometers, beam breakers, pendulums and dowsing rods and will be hosting a special investigation in Cornwall throughout November to raise funds for Children in Need called six days and 66 ghosts.

Mr Thurston added: “The project will take place at the Jamaica Inn, in Cornwall, and we will have lots of people coming along to take part.

“We’re also hoping to get a celebrity guest along to participate.”

The events will take place  at Pengersick Castle, Praa Sands, Cornwall in Cornwall from tomorrow night (Nov 13).

To find out other dates visit the group’s website www.casperuk.co.uk.

Anyone who may want to join the team or sponsor them are asked to contact the team on 07980 016032.
