A game of two halves – a fans view
A limp second-half performance by the Glovers commended them to a draw, when it looked like, for all the world, that they would clinch their eighth consecutive home victory…

SUPER STECH SHOW: Yeovil goalkeeper Marek Stech made some key saves to make sure the Glovers got at least a draw on Tuesday evening. Gary Johnson’s men will still see this as two points dropped in their bid for promotion after being in such a commanding position, although it could have been much worse. Photo by Mike Kunz.
FT score: Yeovil Town 2 – 2 Crawley Town (HT 2-0: Npower league one)

My Man of the Match: Marek Stech (Yeovil Town) – A good performance from the Czech stopper who made a number of important saves to keep Yeovil in the game. Ben Gordon must also take some credit as he made an instant impact after signing for the Somerset side on Monday. The debutee produced a pin-point cross early on in the game for the opening goal and showing the quality from wide areas that Yeovil had been somewhat lacking recently.
Referee: Adcock 6/10 – Overall I thought he and his officials did well as the football took presendence. However, as the game was entering the latter stages, Adcock missed a clear handball (luckily for Yeovil fans) that would have given Crawley the chance to win the game from the spot.

Yeovil largely controlled in the first period and entered the break with a well-deserved two-goal lead over their West Sussex opponents: Byron Webster and hotshot Paddy Madden doing the damage.
The Glovers could have extended their lead further had Ed Upson put a free-kick just the other side of the upright.
However, it wasn't all one-way traffic and the Red Devils had chances to halve the deficit: with only some last-ditch defending, a poor miss (Hayes somehow diverting the ball over an open goal one yard out) and the woodwork denying them a way back into the game.
Even with those missed opportunities from the away side, I really felt at half-time that we were completely in control and couldn't see the complete change in fortunes for the second period…
Yeovil conceded straight from the kick-off; a set-piece that wasn't dealt with and without the much-needed experience of Captain Jamie McAllister to steady the ship (as he was injured and substituted in the first half), the team looked lost out on the pitch.
Considering the Green & Whites (in my opinion) produced one of their best displays of the season in the first half (a good response after recently dropping points away at both Colchester and Hartlepool), I was thoroughly disappointed with the Glovers second-half display.
Crawley, on the other hand, supplied wave after wave of attack. It was no surprise when they grabbed an equaliser (after having missed some golden opportunities before that), with Yeovil all too pedestrian at the back and being carved open at will.
Either of the two teams could have won it and were both denied many times by the woodwork. Crawley also had a late, what seemed to me a clear spot-kick, which was not given.
Overall, an exciting game for the neutral but another blow in Yeovil's promotion credentials. This result now makes next week's encounter against Swindon Town even more important - especially since they lost to Brentford, another play-off contender.
Footnote: The boys, now more than ever, need the supporters to get behind them and I beg any football fanatics out there to get down to Huish Park. We (as fans) can be the twelfth man and with it so close at the top of the table, anything can happen.
Also, I just have to mention the rare appearance of an away mascot at the game. He seemed to have a lot of energy and at half-time he scored a penalty against one of the Yeovil ball-boys. I now believe that was an omen for things to come and hope that he will never be allowed to return to Huish Park!
Finally, dependent on which score board the fans watched in second half, it was a 90 or 100 minute game. Not sure quite what happened but it had the radio commentators fooled !!!
