In-form Wincanton Town are reaping rewards of attacking ethos
WINCANTON Town continued their fine form with an emphatic 6-0 win over Blandford United in the Magna Dorset Premier League.
Ren Turnock scored after just four minutes before netting two penalties, both won by Mike Rousell, to complete a first half hat-trick and put the promotion hopefuls 3-0 up at the break. Rousell scored on the hour to make it 4-0 before Dave O'Hare's late brace poured more misery on United.
Manager Paul Down believes his team are adapting to their new two-striker system and feels that his positive approach is paying off.
"It was a very good win," he said. "It was our best performance of the season and we did it for the full 90 minutes. I told the lads at half time not to sit back and we kept going for the whole game. We were very clinical. It all came off for us on the day – it was an outstanding team performance.

"I would definitely settle for where we are now at this point. We took a while to bed in with a couple of new players and the different system. We are really coming on along well.
"In the last couple of weeks we have seen the signs and it has taken six weeks for us to get there but we are playing some really good football now."
Down's side face top-of-the-league Holt United on Saturday and he hopes his players' confidence will boost their chances of a win.
He said: "Holt are top so it will be a big day for us but we are very confident of getting a result. It will be our hardest game so far, they have only lost once so it will be a test but we will be going with a lot of confidence."
