In-form Farm fell Cobblers
Bristol Manor Farm 2
Street 1
Street were beaten 2-1 by an in-form Bristol Manor Farm side on Saturday but, sadly for the Cobblers, it was another game that they dominated for long periods, yet came away with nothing to show for their efforts.
The early indications did not look good for the visitors as they were exposed several times at the back and only the lack of a clinical finish had left them on level terms in the opening 15 minutes.
The visitors rode their luck, but at the same time it was Street who began to ease themselves back into the game as the half progressed.
James Bisgrove almost gave Street the lead with a fine left-foot shot that keeper Sam Burgess did well to turn aside and David Pearse also went close with an effort that went wide of the far upright.
Street's early dominance early in the second half saw them take the lead with a belter of a goal on 57 minutes. Dan Badman had positioned himself 30 yards from goal and he unleashed a terrific shot that flew into the top corner of the net.
Street should have put the game beyond the reach of Bristol Manor Farm, but two more wasted opportunities were punished as the home side got themselves back on level terms with a superb 20-yard effort from Luke Clark that gave Ryan Lewis no chance.
Bristol Manor Farm were obviously boosted by the equaliser and they picked up all three points with 15 minutes remaining as Ben Murray struck another superb shot from the edge of the penalty box that flew into the roof of the net.
This was to be another frustrating day for Street and unfortunately it was the same old story of missed opportunities and naive defending.
Street are on their travels once again on Saturday as they travel to third-in-the-table Ilfracombe Town.
