Street 78 all out lost to Chard 235-5 wickets by 157 runs

On a stifling afternoon at the Victoria Club, Street lost the toss against Chard and ended up fielding for an uncomfortable 45 overs.

Glenworth and Tillie took advantage of some poor bowling and fielding to add 155 runs for the first wicket – Glenworth ending up on 59 and Tillie 60.

Dropped catches continued as Chard pilled on the runs to amass 235 runs for the loss of just five wickets. The only bowlers who managed to stem the flow of runs were Bartlett (0-47) and Bradshaw (3-43), and some later good overs from Mike Higgs (2-44).

The final total of 49 extras explained the bad day at the office for Street.

Against an accurate attack of Gray and Sochon, Street made the worst possible start when they lost Linter second ball followed by Talbot, Pope and Evely to leave them reeling at 17-4.

Later defiance from Bartlett (17) and Hill (14) recovered the innings slightly, but a final total of 78 all out was a poor effort.

Street need to lick their wounds and recover their previous form to turn this setback around. This was not a day the team will want to remember.
