A fitting backdrop for film screening
The Lost Gardens of Heligan, Pentewan, near Mevagissey, Wednesday only
The classic family film A Secret Garden is the first movie to enjoy an outdoor screening set against the stunning backdrop of ancient rhododendrons on Flora's Green at Heligan.
The fictional garden is a special garden where friendships blossom, illnesses fade away and sorrows flee. There, troubled orphan Mary, her spoiled sickly cousin Colin and kindly country boy Dickson discover that the world of caring can make the world of difference. "If you look the right way," Mary says, "you can see the whole world is a garden."
Gates open at 6.30pm for the 8.45 performance; you can bring your own rugs, chairs and picnics, although refreshments will be available. Booking is essential. Call 01726 845100.
