Firefighters in Street will hold an opening evening tonight to recruit fresh faces at the village's station.
The retirement of some members of the crew means existing staff levels will be stretched and the crew left reliant on support from fire stations in nearby towns, unless new volunteers come forward.

Tonight's event will give would-be firefighters the chance to meet with the team and find out more.
Station manager Mark King said: "Firefighters are normal people who live or work in the community. They are builders, housewives, postal workers and shopkeepers – in fact they come from all and every walk of life.

"The only thing they have in common is that they have all decided to put something back into the community by becoming trained as firefighters.
"We know that there are many more women that are capable of becoming firefighters who are reluctant to put themselves forward.
"Most people believe that the physical strength required to be a firefighter is greater than it actually is.
"Now it is the firefighters themselves that need your help, there simply aren't enough of them."
Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service can provide the station, engines, equipment and training but the firefighters themselves have to come from the community.
Applicants must be at least 18 and physically fit.
They need to be available Monday-Sunday and in particular during the daytime.
Successful applicants will have a chance to attend first aid courses and LGV driving courses.
Firefighters get paid a basic retainer, a fee for call-outs and another for going into action.
Anyone who is interested should come to a recruitment evening tonight at Street Fire Station in Cranhill Road.
The station will be open from 7pm to 8pm.
