The final tattoo on lawns is drummed out in style
HUNDREDS of music lovers gathered on the lawns at Montacute House near Yeovil last week for two hours of entertainment.
Spectators of the Diamond Jubilee Military Tattoo – the eleventh and last to be held at the National Trust property – enjoyed music from HMS Heron Royal Naval Volunteer Band from RNAS Yeovilton, the Somerset Army Cadet Force Silver Bugles, the Pipes and Drums of the Wessex Highlanders and the Band and Bugles of the Rifles. Proceeds will go to St Margaret's Hospice and Armed Forces charities.

Grahame Meaden, visitor service manager at Montacute House said: "With our opening hours increasing, especially into the winter, the wear and tear on the garden from hosting the event is more noticeable and it is taking up more of our staff time than we can reasonably offer. However, it is an excellent event, always attracting good numbers and we wish it well in the future."
A spokeswoman for St Margaret's Hospice said details of the 2013 event should be revealed this month.
