Down-to-earth roots trio share an inspired melee
Blues roots trio Wille and the Bandits continue to rise quietly and steadily, taking their eclectic and accomplished brand of 1970s-inspired music to audiences around the world.
The Plymouth-based band were recently touring with the mighty Deep Purple; they have played in some of Europe's most famous arenas, including the Olympia in Paris, completed two tours with Status Quo and opened for American singer and guitar wizard Joe Bonamassa, Eric Bibb and the John Butler Trio.
But, with no airs or graces in their bones, the band can also be found playing small, intimate joints close to home, as well as indulging in a spot of street busking now and then. Next weekend there's a chance to catch them performing at the Palladium Club in Bideford, North Devon.
Wille and the Bandits' music spans a host of genres, pulling in elements from folk and world, through to blues and rock. Often likened to greats like Led Zeppelin, Santana and Pink Floyd, this bold comparison only scrapes the surface of the trio's collective influences.

Raised in the UK, frontman, singer and guitarist Wille took a trip to his birth land of Australia after leaving school. Busking to pay his way from Sydney to Cairns, he met a man playing lap steel guitar on the street and that busker went on to mentor the young traveller. Wille is now considered one of Europe's finest slide guitar players.
Back in the UK he teamed up with experimental percussionist and drummer Andrew Naumann and began to build their reputation as a fine live and recording act. Five years on, they have been joined by bass player Matthew Brooks – and a huge selection of drums, guitars and effects pedals.

Experimental quintet air songs from concept album
Dynamic violin-led quintet The People's String Foundation return to The Poly in Falmouth tonight for a warm-up performance of their new concept album, The Lost Dreams of Gilgamesh, due for release later this year. The brainchild of multi-instrumentalist and jazz singer Ben Sutcliffe and world blues guitarist Zaid Al-Rabiki, the Cornwall-based band embrace the experimental and avant-garde, sipping into the realms of jazz, hip-hop beat-work and Middle Eastern melodies, performed with a troupe of inspired musicians.
