Fast depleting land, water, energy, and mineral resources aided by science, and technology, which helped improve medical sciences, and eradicate natural diseases but increased longevity and consequent population growth even at locations previously inhospitable to human life.

Consequences of overpopulation, and resource scarcity quite obvious in many locations, and leading to military conflicts.

Economy dependent on continued expansion/consumption and utilization of scarce resources.

Increasing land, air, and water pollution and consequent environmental degradation/climate change caused by increasing populations, industry, transport, and leisure activities, and waste arising from increased consumption.

Increase in people exploiting the system, and aware of their rights but not honouring their obligations to the rest of society.

World Political and economic systems hooked on to short term palliatives rather than working towards structural changes.

Vast tracts of the world containing under-developed societies struggling to find solutions to meeting basic survival needs and copying models of development seen to be failing in the West and continuing to reproduce at alarming levels without the wherewithal to sustain their population.
