Two die and two injured in A303 collision
Two people died in a collision on a notorious West Country road yesterday morning.
Emergency services were called to the A303 between the Ilminster roundabout and the South Petherton roundabout in Somerset shortly after 8.30am.

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said a car crossed the carriageway of the Ilminster bypass and collided with a van travelling in the opposite direction.
“Unfortunately two people from one of the vehicles died at the scene,” he said.

“There were two people in the second vehicle, with one person taken to Frenchay Hospital with serious injuries and the second person receiving a minor injury.”
The busy road between the A358 and A356 was closed for more than six hours while investigators examined the scene. Although diversions were set up, there were long queues on nearby roads.
