Its suspension appears to cope effortlessly with smooth motorway surfaces, bumpy 'B' roads as well as hard and soft off road terrain. In reality, its working its socks off yet the R1200GS rider remains totally oblivious to all this. Just as it should be.
The flat twin cylinder engine revs easily with the red zone set above 8,500rpm, making this an exciting bike to ride. The seating position is high with a low centre of gravity, giving the rider agility and panoramic vision when negotiating tricky terrain.
