Promising results for Clevedon club
Despite finishing behind Bristol Henleaze and local rivals Backwell, there were some fast swims from promising young swimmers.
Samuel Knowlton won the 12-year-old backstroke, Keziah Douglas won the nine-year-old breaststroke and Gabriel Jones won the nine-year-old backstroke.
It was in the younger age groups that Clevedon had the greatest success as Charlie Durnell won in the 11-year-old freestyle and Oscar Gall the nine-year-old freestyle.
Clevedon picked up lots of points in the relays with Jordan Nicol (2), Joel Holdaway (2), Gabriel Jones (2), Oscar Gall (2), Lucy Barratt, Ruth Bragg, Keziah Douglas, Florence Taylor, Ella Cemlyn-Jones, Emma Sudol, Elspeth McGowan and Ellen Gentry winning races.
The team, sponsored by Bristol Hotspring Ltd, also registered plenty of personal bests, with Annabelle Birkett, Thomas Bishop, Ruth Bragg, Christopher Burnett, Ella Cemlyn-Jones, Elena Crossan, Keziah Douglas, Charlie Durnell, Ellen Gentry, Holly Hancock, Charlie Hatcher, Emily Hatcher, Natasha Hawley, Joel Holdaway, Zack Holdaway, Peter Kearsley, Bridie King, Samuel Knowlton, Luke Maidment, Elspeth McGowan, Jordan Nicol, Sophie Olver, Eliot Parsons, Amy Thomson, David Warnes and Jonathan Warrellow beating their previous times.
Meanwhile, the senior squad competed in the second round of the National Arena Swimming League at Hutton Moor in Weston.
Clevedon eventually finished in fifth place and are now waiting to see if they have qualified for the B final.
Ellie Chappell won the 11-year-old butterfly and set a personal best, while there were also new best times for Matt Bray, Jenni Gilbert, Benjamin Howlett, Harry Thornton (2) and Lizzie Warnes.
