“ Keen to support local business instead of multinational / Global food chains, I happened upon Bella’s Bistro (ex Cafe de Boer) in the High Street, Yeovil. I ascended the stairs to the first floor restaurant and once sat at my table, a very charming young lady, Donna, approached to take my order. As it was a Friday and very full, I opted for just a quick Baked Beans on Granary Toast with a fried Egg and a couple of sausages, with cheese over the Beans. Luckily I wasn’t in too much of a hurry, as 29 minutes later my meal arrived. The delay I think is just down to popularity, as Ben, the husband of the Owner Elizabeth and a decorated War Hero who recently served with distinction in Afghanistan explained, “We are proud that all our food is locally sauced and freshly cooked to order, we no longer serve frozen or pre-cooked ready meals like the last owners did, fresh food, cooked well, decently priced”. With that high standard of cooking, this young couple from Bristol is bringing high quality almost “Michelin stared food” to drag this little rural backwater away from Burgers and chips and educate us all to appreciate the finer food that up till now has been the preserve of the City folk of Bristol. p.s. Thank you Demi for cooking my fantastic lunch, despite having a fractured wrist and a burnt arm, your devotion to Ben is inspiring …. http://www.bellasbistro.co.uk/about-us ”
