Somerset landscapes by a local artist have taken over a Burnham-on-Sea gallery.

Tim Smith, who was born at Bridgwater and now lives in Burnham, has taken inspiration from the world around him for his paintings.

He is currently exhibiting a selection of paintings at Sea Breeze, Victoria Street, Burnham.

One room is devoted to local Somerset scenes and another to a variety of locations. The paintings are predominantly in watercolour, but he also uses oils, acrylics, pastels, pen and ink.

Tim said he enjoys painting local landscapes, such as Brent Knoll, the Mendips and the Quantocks. He also loves to paint townscapes and buildings around Burnham and Highbridge and has found it inspiring exploring further afield in Bath, Bristol, London and even Ireland, where he lived for a while.

In addition to beautiful scenes, Tim enjoys painting flora and fauna and has received various commissions, to paint pictures of people's homes, pets and even a friend's beloved mini.

"Above all, it is the ordinary things that move me most but I like to highlight the beauty that might sometimes be overlooked that is right here on our doorstep," he said.

The free entry exhibition, with exhibits available to buy, runs until Saturday, July 31. Phone 01278 783276 for opening hours.
