Zoo's enclosure plan not true conservation
I AM always surprised at the number of articles featuring Noah's Ark Zoo.
And each time I read an article it strikes me how much money is being expended to keep animals in an artificial environment; and what a difference only a small part of those funds would make to conservation projects and the people living locally through jobs and cash flow for the local economy.

I suspect that a recent article on the elephant enclosure planning application quoted from my objection letter. But there wasn't a reference to my suggestion that an education display linked to a reputable conservation site would provide greater benefit to the Gordano community as young people learn about how people and nature can live together.
I suggested the Born Free elephant rehabilitation work in Sri Lanka as a potential partner. True conservation is to take an abandoned infant elephant and see it live safe and wild to raise a new generation. That is sustainable conservation.
