Yeovil man's miracle escape as tree crushes car on A30
A Yeovil man walked away with no more than a grazed ankle after a huge tree fell on top of his car.
Adrian Hussey, 48, was trapped in his Honda Accord on the A30 in West Coker on Thursday afternoon.
The horror took place as winds and heavy rainfall lashed Somerset causing widespread flooding.
Fellow motorists helped Mr Hussey, of Lyde Road, from his crushed vehicle.

He said: “I was driving through West Coker and heard a loud creaking noise. It was really screeching and then there was a sharp crack and the tree fell straight on top of the car.
“The bonnet was crushed and the door would only open a little bit. The driver in front stopped and walked back down shouting to me.
“I called back and with the help of some other drivers they managed to pull the door open and get me out through all the branches.
“The only injury I had was a bit of grazing when I was climbing through the branches.”
Mr Hussey, who is married with two children, works at Tods Aerospace, Cropmead, Crewkerne.
He said: “Everyone keeps saying I cheated death.
“The paramedic wrote on his notes that I was lucky to be alive.
“I have been having flashbacks and can’t believe what happened. You dread to think what could have happened.”
The A30 was closed until Friday afternoon while the tree was cleared.
In South Petherton floods hit shops and homes in the village including the Co-operative store.
Mark Bowden, 37, of St James Street, was left devastated after floodwater drenched the ground floor of his home.
He said: “I was sat with my children when one of them pointed out a puddle in the corner. Within an hour we were about six inches of water.
“It was coming through the door, the floor and the walls.
“We tried to do what we could but we’ve lost a lot including sofas, TV, carpets, the kids’ PlayStation, tables, chairs, the fridge and washing machine.
“I’m not sure whether I’ll be up and running by Christmas.”
