Yeovil bone patients benefit from Montacute walk
PATIENTS who need to have their bones scanned at Yeovil District Hospital are to benefit from some new technology which is being funded by the Yeovil and District Support Group of the National Osteoporosis Society.
The group raised £2,108.80 by doing a sponsored walk in the grounds of Montacute House. Secretary Rosemary Leaf said: "Many of the 28 walkers suffer from Osteoporosis and it was a great achievement for them to take part in this event."
The money will go towards the cost of new technology which is used for the diagnosis and treatment of Osteoporosis.
The Yeovil support group has only been running for two years and now has over 70 members who work closely with the Osteoporosis specialists at Yeovil District Hospital. They have weekly exercise classes, bi-monthly talks and run a local hotline for newly diagnosed patients and membership is free.
