Yeovil Town players accept moustache-growing challenge for Movember
Yeovil Town’s players will need a stiff upper lip both on and off the pitch from today as they back a charity campaign.
The Glovers will start their six-game month fresh faced but aim to end it the complete opposite by going head-to-head to raise as much money as possible for Movember.

Co-ordinated by captain Jamie McAllister, the Huish Park players are joining Mo’vil Town FC in support of the annual moustache-growing initiative that raises awareness of prostate cancer and cash for cancer charities.
As well as battling to see who can grow the best facial fuzz, Yeovil’s favourites will go nose neighbour to nose neighbour to see who can attract the most donations, with a prize going to the winner.

McAllister said the plan had manager Gary Johnson’s blessing as they did their bit to help the cause.
“The boys want to raise money for what is such a good cause,” said the Scottish left back. “Myself and a few of the boys at Bristol City did it last year, I mentioned it at Yeovil last week and a few of them said they were up for it.
“The gaffer brought it up on Saturday in the Crewe Alexandra pre-match meeting and the players were up for it so we got them all on board.
“I am sure the lads will look funny with a few rascal moustaches. It’s for a great cause and it’s great for banter as well. It’s good for team spirit and we will raise awareness of a serious illness, which can only be a good thing. We are in a fortunate position to help others.”
With other teams in the Football League also involved in Movember, McAllister predicted a series of hairy encounters this month but doubted repeating his personal design from last year would be popular at home.
“I went for the full handlebar and the wife hated it,” he said. “I’m not sure she’s too happy I’m doing it again but if it’s raising more money that’s great.”
