Yeovil Town fans encouraged to pedal for pounds ahead of Crewe Alexandra game
Yeovil Town are appealing for fans to pedal for pounds and raise thousands for three charities by getting on their bike ahead of the final home game of the season.
The Glovers entertain Crewe Alexandra on Saturday, April 20 and want 100 keen cyclists to take to the saddle to cover the 200-mile trip from Alex’s Gresty Road home to Huish Park in the three days leading up to the clash.

Organised in conjunction with Yeovil Cycling Club, the challenge will see riders raise funds for the Yeovil Town Community Sports Trust, St Margaret’s Hospice and Prostate Cancer UK.
Glovers’ chief executive Martyn Starnes said: “We have not taken on anything of this scale before and we are looking to raise a substantial amount of money through the sponsorship of three incredibly worthy causes.

The Community Sports Trust delivers a wide range of sports related initiatives across Somerset and Dorset, using the power of football and sport to engage individuals and to have a positive impact on the lives of thousands of young people each year.
St Margaret’s Hospice in Yeovil provides specialist palliative care, advice, support and respite to patients and their families living in Somerset and parts of neighbouring counties.
Their care is available for those who have a terminal or life-limiting illness such as cancer, motor neurone disease and chronic lung disease.
Prostate Cancer UK – formerly The Prostate Cancer Charity – supports male sufferers, funds research and raises awareness about the disease.
The Glovers were inspired to devise the challenge after Huddersfield Town’s annual Pedal For Pounds ride ended at Huish Park last season.
Starnes added: “We were particularly impressed with their organisation last year and they have been very co-operative in helping us with some of the early detail.”
Cyclists wishing to participate should visit www.ytfc.net to download an application form, with a £50 entry fee covering transport, accommodation and a jersey.
