THE Glovers will go the extra mile for charity next month when a group of runners pound the pavements from Huish Park to Swindon Town.

Instead of taking the coach, train or car to the County Ground for Yeovil Town's npower League One clash with the Robins on Saturday, November 17 approximately 30 fund-raisers will run the 80-mile trip in aid of the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance and the club's Community Sports Trust.

Organised in conjunction with the Yeovil Town Road Running Club, who start weekly runs from the Glovers' home, the event will be split into 16 five-mile relays with participants completing at least one leg.

The runners expect to leave Huish Park at 6pm Friday, November 16, running through the night and completing the challenge in time for the game.

A spokesman for the club said: "Unless Yeovil Town have a home match on a Tuesday our weekly club runs start and finish at the football club, they allow us to park the club trailer in a compound at Huish Park and we hold our club social events there whenever possible. We are delighted to have and grateful for their continued friendship and support.

"So, when they challenged us to raise sponsorship for charity by running to an away game, what could we do but pick up the baton?"
