Yeovil's HMV store looks set to be safe for the time being having avoided be named as one of 66 initial closures by administrators.

Deloitte today announced 930 staff would lose their jobs at the CD and DVD high street chain as part of the closure of 66 stores across the UK over the next two months.

HMV entered administration in January and operates from 220 stores in the UK, including the Quedam Shopping Centre in Yeovil.

"This step has been taken in order to enhance the prospects of securing the business' future as a going concern," said Nick Edwards, joint administrator at Deloitte.
