Wyke Farms tops milk price with second rise
West Country dairy firm Wyke Farms is to increase its milk payment to farmers by 0.75p per litre, effective from November 1.
The Somerset firm, the nation’s largest independent cheese producer and milk processor, timed the rise to coincide with the Dairy Show at Shepton Mallet today.
The increase is on top of the 0.5p increase in October, bringing payments to more than 30.5p, the best milk price paid for cheese.
Richard Clothier, director of the company, based at Wyke Champflower, near Bruton, has pledged to continue to review prices every month.
