Writhlington School student Patrick Withey in diabetes fundraising walk
A sporty youngster from Coleford has proved that having a lifelong medical condition does not have to stand in the way of achieving sporting greatness.
Writhlington School student Patrick Withey marked the tenth anniversary of his diagnosis with Type 1 diabetes by raising £500 for Diabetes UK.
Twelve-year-old Patrick took part in a three-mile sponsored walk to raise the cash for the charity which supports people with the incurable condition.
Patrick, who has also captained his school's under 13s rugby team and Midsomer Norton Rugby Club under 13s, said: "I wanted to raise the money for the charity as a way of marking ten years since I was diagnosed and show other people who have diabetes that it doesn't have to stop your achieving what you want to achieve."
