Woman in labour airlifted to hospital to give birth after snow causes chaos on Frome roads
A woman in labour has been airlifted from Frome to give birth at the Royal United Hospital in Bath this morning.
The mum-to-be was at Frome Community Hospital, but needed to be transferred to the city hospital and was flown by the RAF search and rescue helicopter due to many of the roads around Frome being impassable because of the snow.
Many drivers have become stranded, and several lorries have been parked up along the A361 just outside the town.
The A361 has been closed in both directions between Shepton Mallet and Frome due to this morning's heavy snowfall.

“Well done
These helicopters are lifesavers but not NHS just charities, it's time the NHS coughed up a lot more.”
