Tesco has applied for planning permission to put a 35ft wind turbine in the car park of its Paulton supermarket.

The application will be heard at Wednesday's meeting of the Bath and North East Somerset Council development control committee, and has been recommended by officers for approval.

A spokesman said: "The turbine is unusual in style as it has two vertically driven rotors as opposed to the conventional propeller blades.

"As a result, the structure is lower in height than traditional turbines: the rotor itself measures 14.5ft high and has a width of 11ft"
