Wincanton branch of Cancer Research UK folds after 53 years
The Wincanton branch of a national charity has folded after more than 50 years of fundraising.
The town's Cancer Research UK fundraising group has raised nearly £300,000 since forming in 1959.
However, after the recent resignation of chairman Peter Mitchell and pressing family commitments for secretary Pat Cullen, volunteers have now hung up their collecting tins.
Due to dwindling numbers, a decision was made to disband the group at a recent annual general meeting.
