Wincanton branch of Cancer Research UK folds after 53 years
The Wincanton branch of a national charity has folded after more than 50 years of fundraising.
The town's Cancer Research UK fundraising group has raised nearly £300,000 since forming in 1959.

The Wincanton fundraising group of Cancer Research UK has folded after more than 50 years.
However, after the recent resignation of chairman Peter Mitchell and pressing family commitments for secretary Pat Cullen, volunteers have now hung up their collecting tins.
Due to dwindling numbers, a decision was made to disband the group at a recent annual general meeting.

Members of the committee were presented with certificates in appreciation of their years of hard work.
Ros Fry, area volunteer manager of Cancer Research UK, said: "They are an amazing group of fundraisers and we are extremely grateful for their hard work over so many years."
