Wetherspoon apologise for pub opening date blunder
JD Wetherspoon has apologised for giving the wrong date for its new pub opening to the Wells Journal last week.
The Wells pub will be opening on January 21, not October 21, as was stated in the report.
Spokesman Eddie Gershon confirmed the January opening, apologising for the error and said: “The fact that we have set the date for opening showskeen Wetherspoon is to come to Wells. Hopes for bringing a Wetherspoon to the city have been high for many years.
“Hopefully the new pub will also act as a catalyst for further investment in the town.”

Development of the new pub, named The Quarter Jack, will start on October 14 and theof development is estimated at £1.4 million.
It is believed that the new development will create 40-45 new jobs for people in the area.
Previously, Wetherspoon had plans to move to Shepton Mallet’s old Academy and Amulet Theatre, but pulled out after being granted permission for the Wells location.
They were initially refused planning permission for the Wells site on Priory Road, revised their plans and got subsequent permission.
Weatherspoon’s foray into Wells has been met with concern by some residents who prefer independent businesses.
