Weston-super-Mare pay price for conceding soft goals at Hayes & Yeading
Conceding two soft goals inside the opening 15 minutes condemned Weston-super-Mare to a second consecutive Blue Square Bet South defeat, losing 2-1 at Hayes & Yeading.
As against Bath in midweek, a slow start cost Weston the game as they were chasing it thereafter following early defensive errors.
Hayes, who are contesting a play-off spot, started well, forcing the first of four corners on three minutes and they opened the scoring four minutes later when Jamie Hand’s free-kick was headed back by Josh Ekim to Adam Bygrave, who easily slotted past Weston goalkeeper Lloyd Irish.
Minutes later, Kudus Oyenuga’s effort hit the side netting, but they did better on 14 minutes when Tom Cadman outjumped the Weston defence to head in Hand’s corner kick.

Irish was soon in action again, turning Jamil Lowe’s effort over his crossbar.
As Weston got into the game, home goalkeeper Brandon Hall hacked Ashley Kington’s effort to safety as Kayne McClaggon closed in and Ross Stearn had an effort turned away by the goalkeeper.
Weston’s pressure paid off on 38 minutes when a long clearance out of defence was controlled by Dayle Grubb, who lobbed Hall from 20 yards, the goalkeeper getting a hand to the ball, but failing to stop it going in.
Weston had the better of the midfield exchanges in the second half and missed a good chance of an equaliser when Grubb dispossessed Hall, only for the goalkeeper to recover and clear the danger.
